This session deck closes the why module of the IRG1000 Leadership Program in its WPP preview form. Its subject is implications: what the Humanized Growth study means for each participating organization.
The session runs through four items: humanized growth learning, humanized growth opportunities, an evaluation of module one, and what comes next in module two.
Key findings
- The work is done in agency teams rather than in plenary. Teams review top level survey results, select the most important humanized growth learnings, then select and prioritize the most important opportunities, in a 40 minute breakout.
- The gap between growth leaders and the rest is widest on reading the market. Assessing and understanding market developments runs at 86 percent against 43 percent, which the deck frames as spotting and riding the right wave.
- Linking different data sources to distil insights splits 67 percent against 34 percent, tied to having one version of the truth for everyone.
- Willingness to accept new business models runs at 71 percent against 39 percent. The deck’s phrase for that is that overperformers play chess and checkers simultaneously.
- The leadership model the program builds toward is the Da Vinci Growth CMO, described as a servant leader who is curious, agile, connected, collaborative, courageous, inspiring as a storyteller, and obsessed with speed and impact.
Where the session sits in the program
The program runs in three modules. Module one covers the why: the Humanized Growth study, leading humanized growth, decoding the world, and personal passion and purpose. Module two covers the what, and module three the how.
The full map adds abundant markets, multiple business models, evolving experiences, open culture, the anticipative organization, and whole-brained teams, ending in a growth ambition, a growth plan, and impact and evaluation.
Formats are mixed deliberately. The key distinguishes collective Zoom sessions, individual online work, core team work, and sparring sessions.
Two CEOs in the room
The program schedules meetings with the participants’ own chief executives. Nick Lawson, global CEO of MediaCom, and Jon Cook, global CEO of VMLY&R, are both booked for 17 May.
The tools handed over
The business model canvas is used as the working tool for multiple business models, with value propositions, customer segments, customer relationships, channels, key activities, key resources, key partners, cost structure, and revenue streams.
The marketing capability map set alongside it covers growth strategy, strategic brand development, product and service innovation, creative, customer experience, content and engagement, media and performance, and revenue and channel leadership, all under integrated stakeholder engagement.
Scope and limitations
This is a working session rather than a findings document. The survey results are reviewed at top level only, and the module evaluation is a five minute item at the end.
