This is the running order for the first IRG Open, a one hour session on what taking responsibility for humanized growth means in practice. It restates IRG’s purpose, gives the state of the argument about stakeholder capitalism, hands over to Angela Ahrendts for a briefing, and then puts the question to the room.

Key findings

  • IRG defines its own purpose as connection rather than instruction: helping growth leaders by putting them in contact with peers, experts and best practices.
  • Humanized growth is expressed as a value equation with four multiplied terms: colleague value, customer value, community value, and capital market value.
  • Short termism is named as the force working against that equation.
  • The session frames the current moment in three parts: the era of stakeholder capitalism, the criticism and ongoing debate around it, and optimism about change.
  • Half of the hour is given to the participants rather than the speakers, with a twenty minute breakout followed by a ten minute plenary debrief.

The briefing

Angela Ahrendts contributes the inspiration segment in two recorded clips. The first is on the role of the marketer. The second is on ideas and initiatives.

The questions put to the room

The breakout opens with a personal question before a strategic one. Participants are asked first what they do to broaden their horizon and get out of their own lane, and then how they can take responsibility for driving multi stakeholder growth.

Two follow-up prompts push toward evidence rather than intent. One asks how participants connect and build relationships with peers. The other asks what initiatives they are actually driving.

The debrief is structured as advice rather than reporting back. Each group brings its top three pieces of advice for the wider group.

What follows the session

The session closes with an invitation to IRG Campus on June 19 and 20.
