Marc de Swaan Arons and Frank van den Driest prepared this deck as an IRG intro webinar for WPP, built around a preview of the Brazil findings. The running order gives thirty minutes to the IRG storyline, then short slots for linking IRG’s work to WPP’s solutions, additional inputs, training, IRG marketing and questions.
Key findings
- The premise of the storyline is that the established formulas no longer work: traditional business growth formulas are failing.
- The distinguishing capability of the leading organizations is timing and choice of market. They excel at spotting and choosing the right wave, and at assessing and understanding market developments.
- The mindset scale runs from an individual and unaligned mindset with an input focus at one end to an entrepreneurial mindset lived, loved and championed across the organization, including external partners, with a results focus at the other.
- The deck measures Brazil against seven dimensions, and reports the gap between the status quo and the emerging future on each one. The largest gaps are on the abundant market view and the anticipative organization.
The seven dimensions
The frame is a set of seven dimensions, from an abundant market view and multiple business models through ever-evolving experiences, an open culture, an anticipative organization and whole-brain intelligence, ending at humanized growth.
The same seven are scored twice. On the status quo view each dimension carries a negative number, with the abundant market view at 26 points below and the anticipative organization at 21 below. Humanized growth shows the smallest gap of the set at 6.
What the deck asks leaders to do
Three actions follow the diagnosis. Celebrate and reward intrapreneurship. Reconfigure the leadership team away from what the deck calls male, pale and stale toward a genuinely diverse one. And replace the linear career trajectory with a jungle gym.
The closing slides warn against two things: shiny digital toys that distract from the work, and going at it alone.
Scope and limitations
The deck is a preview prepared for one audience, not a published study. It presents the Brazil scores as headline numbers without the sample or method behind them.
