Paul Polman

Former CEO Unliever, Co-Founder IMAGINE. Paul joins the series for a second time to discuss his new book: Net Positive. A new way of doing business that puts back more into society, the environment, and the economy than it takes out.

Paul Polman is the co-founder of imagine and former CEO of Unilever. In this session Polman will cover important topics from his book Net Positive: How Courageous Companies Thrive by Giving More Than They Take. Society’s expectations of business have changed more in the past two years than in the previous 20, due to a confluence of factors including the pandemic, an increase in natural disasters, attacks on democracy, and more. Both practically and morally, corporate leaders can no longer sit on the sidelines of major societal shifts or treat human and planetary issues as “someone else’s problem.” Business leaders must play an active role in addressing our biggest shared challenges. Key to this conversation will be the critical paths for businesses to prosper today and win in the future: serve multiple stakeholders, take ownership of all company impacts, embrace deep partnerships—even with critics—and rethink advocacy
